“White” a Surprise!

I was suppose to prepare dinner last night when Hubby texted to say one of his colleagues was buying them dinner. Well, it saved me the hassle of having to wash pots and plates and so i just decided to take something simple by myself, i.e none other than my favorite chocolate cereal! While waiting for hubby to come home, I toggled between playing Sims mobile and watching Lawless Attorney on my laptop. Hubby finally came back 15 minutes past 10. As he entered the house, he waved what seemed at first, a packet of purplish stuff. I thought, snacks for our supper? Not a bad idea since I have completely digested my cereal and i wouldn’t say no to chips.

To my utmost surprise, it turned out to be a mini bouquet of purplish pink statice. This is the first time I received a gift on White Day. Turns out that people here, at least the younger generation celebrate White Day, a day in which guys reciprocate by buying gifts, usually chocolates for their partners. Smiling to myself, running my fingers gently through the mini blooms, I felt like a child again. It felt so different to be a recipient rather than a giver. For the past 7 years, I have dedicated my time at a flower shop on Valentine’s Day, creating bouquets for customers to surprise their other half. I always read the heartfelt messages with envy and with very bouquet I sent out, I hope they could brighten a girl’s day. So it was heartwarming when i finally received one yesterday. I guess this is what they call the Duchenne smile or effect. Somehow flowers have a magical way to evoke positive emotions in people.
